Ramsgate Community Hub

Posted: 26 April 2017

On 17th March 2017 Global Generation Church opened a community hub in the heart of Ramsgate. The idea is that some of the public health initiatives and wellbeing agendas that we champion at the Aspirations Centre will transfer down to this new hub as well. Now that it’s been open a little while we asked the Chris Joy who runs the Hub to tell us a bit about how things have been going. This is what he had to say:

“Its been over a month now since the grand opening of the Glo Community Hub and things have been going great. The Hub is a community space in Ramsgate open 3 days a week for anyone to drop in, grab a coffee, and just have a good natter. But on top of that it is also being grown into a place for a variety of community organisations to engage with residents and give space for hearing concerns. The NHS, police, council, housing associations are all involved, taking advantage of the Hub’s great location to meet with people and break down boundaries with the community.

The long term plan for the hub is for it to be open everyday, a busy centre for the community elevating loneliness and drawing the community together. If you’re in the area please pop in! We are open Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays between 10:30am and 2:30pm.”

There are lots of plans for this space including more support groups for people with mental health, support to stop smoking, community groups run by local residents and much more. This is in addition to the job club, community library and groups for older adults that are already running. So watch this space, or even better go in and have a coffee to see the space for yourself!
